January, 2008, I have found employment, and remain employed currently.
I have managed to stock up on supplies to resume my paintings.
I don't have much time otherwise to indulge in online activities these days.

I was laid off early October due to lack of business, which seems to be widespread in the area (a lot of homes for sale and foreclosed homes on auction). The classifieds haven't revealed any matching jobs yet, and EDD unemployment has spared me the humiliation of working at a fast food/ movie theater job.

Pathfinder from [link] has been a glorious distraction in the meantime, and I kind of took a mental pause from art. As you can see on my ID page, I finally completed part one of Kali Ma, and I should soon get going on part two.

I haven't had enough time to catch up and look at everyone's recent uploads for the week from my watch list. I did manage to finally make it to the 7th and put a dent in it. I definately did not have any time to look at any new art from new people. I only have time while at work, and if it gets slow. This week was moderately busy.

A bad digital camera battery charger and a virus that infected my wife's computer put a nice stumbling block to delay some uploads of my work. I'm grateful I got at least one image this week. I could have had another today, but it became a massive file, and I need to cut it down (my photoshop has been taking me about an hour per image to modify its setting to make it fit the DA standards for resolution), and I ran out of time last night.

If I get my shipment of more supplies from Utrecht tomorrow, I hope to add the remaining layers of primer to my new prepped canvasses tomorrow and throughout next week, and next Saturday will still be possible to actually begin painting!!

I'm truly honored to witness such amazing artwork constantly here, to be on watch lists with talented artists, and to receive wonderful comments.

I'll check back Monday, hopefully, and may everyone have wonderful weekends!!

I finally have the two 2' X 3' canvasses stretched yesterday, and I will prime them today and tomorrow. My battery charger for our digital camera is out, and has put a cramp in getting anything new uploaded. Assuming I get enough sketching done, I might be able to begin by next Saturday.
I'm fortunate enough to manage purchase and assemby of the frames all day yesterday at work, and I'll try to view all the latest work all of my watches and friends have uploaded in the past few days.

Ma Kali update Friday

Fri Feb 23, 2007, 2:15 PM
I hope that by the weekend, all of the heads will be completed (51 total severed heads: 50 for the necklace, and one that Kali holds in her hand). The next phase will be to sketch other ideas and images of jewelry, tattoos, etc. Then I need to take some photos of myself and my wife in various poses. I'm easy, I love taking self-portraits (I will pose as Shiva), so I think half the task will be very fun.

Monday, I will get lumber supplies and arrange the support for the canvass and prime the hell out of it all week to be ready by the weekend to begin whenever the other areas of research and development are finished (or I grow impatient).

This has been an idea of mine since about 2005, but I never had the money, storage/working space, or time for it until now. Perhaps it's a good thing since many aspects to it have evolved, including the title.

Perhaps the most exciting part will be the frame, which came to me last weekend. I feel final presentation should be considered before any work begins, and I will make a frame consisting of cow hooves. Some of the black I will use will likewise come from my own mixed pigment of linseed oil and ground chicken bones (the paint has been prepped and ready since about December).

I'm considering this piece as a personal challenge, and I have been investing a lot of energy in it.
